EP69 - 'Two Geeky Guys' - Markus & CJ

Joining me this week are 'Two Geeky Guys', CJ and Markus. Two guys from my neck of the woods, the North East of England that have a love for all things geeky. Both have talents and experience in all things geeky and creative media. In their own words, "Markus is the one with all of the talent and CJ is the one with all of the crazy ideas." Let's see if this is true.

EP68 - Charlotte Mitchell - North East Local Butcher

It is the festive season and a very important part of Christmas is food. So my guest this week is perfect, we’re talking Turkey and much more with butcher Charlotte Mitchell. Charlotte is one of the few females in a heavily male-dominated industry.  The Girl Butcher (as known on twitter) has her own shop in Gosforth, Newcastle upon Tyne and you may have seen her on the Channel 4 show ‘Sunday Brunch’. Charlotte says “It’s imperative if you want to make Christmas easier, get the best from your meat and save yourself time and expense, that you talk to your butcher.” Luckily for us, we are!

EP67 - Kevin Jarvis - Actor/Mad Scientist

This week I chat to former touring pantomime partner Kevin Jarvis. Since we last worked together he’s been a busy man. He has toured Germany as Romeo in ‘Romeo and Juliet’, starred in short films, climbed the career ladder with ‘Mad Science’ and set up his own children’s party entertainment company called ‘The Party Dude’. We will not only chat about Kevin’s recent work, we will revisit our 2013 pantomime days and explain how on the last day of the tour we comically lost out on the ’Troupe of the Year’ award.

EP66 - Ani Pandit - 'The Mad Ones' Director/Writer/Producer

The Mad Ones.jpg

Drawing on his experiences working in ad sales in the heart of Silicon Valley, writer and director - and former “Googler” - Aniruddh Pandit has crafted the film as a loving satire of millennial angst. The Mad Ones explores the unique subcultures of the digital age - from “entrepreneurettes” who get rich by monetizing their dating lives to utopian ad agencies where executives are given personal yogis. While navigating through these modern-day absurdities, the film drives towards timeless antidotes: love and friendship. The Mad Ones is a smart, funny, and heartwarming story about the friendship that forms between three young professionals searching for meaning in work and life.

EP65 - Mick Conlon - 'String Ninjas'

String Ninjas.jpg

What do you get when you combine the virtuosity of a classically trained violinist with the groove and hard hitting bass of a self-taught fingerstyle guitarist? One answer would be complete and utter madness, the other being the instrumental musings of the String Ninjas. Formed in early 2017 by Gavin Ferris (Guitar) and Mick Conlon (Violin), the Sting Ninjas have hit the ground running and have amazed audiences with their upbeat, fresh live performances which include witty banter, self-depreciation, alcohol and of course the odd song or two. With these guys no genre is safe.

EP60 - Bobby Bonehill - Actor & Wrestling Fan

This week I am joined by a great friend. Actor Bobby Bonehill came over to the flat thinking he was just going to watch Wrestlemania with me. Instead we decided to set up the Creativity Talks microphone. We then chatted wrestling, friendship, training, acting for commercials, acting as a skin character, meeting celebrities, minding at Insomnia 56 and a pointless fox. It was a delight to have him on the podcast.
