EP81 - Jayne Bickerton - Artist & Crafter

Jayne Bickerton may be known more for acting roles, but today we talk to the artist and crafter. Jayne from an early age has been passionate about creating something from nothing and as a result, holds a BA Hons in art and design. These days she  produces beautiful ‘dreamlike’ portraits of pop culture icons and runs a fauxidermy animal sculpture business called Crafted Creatures. Jayne says “ I love animals, I’m good at sewing and I like upcycling things like fabric so it’s a combination of likes!”.

EP79 - Mike West - Alt Country Troubadour

79.jpg

My guest this week is musician, Mike West. A walking dichotomy of genres and influences, Mike is as comfortable performing at a metal festival, as he is at a tattoo convention, arts café or folk club. This widespread appeal is down to his honest lyrics, driving rhythms and diverse subject range, from his home town of Rock Ferry to the practice of Tibetan Sky Funerals, all driven by his relentless guitar.

EP78 - Susan Lee - Artist/Novelist/Creator

78.jpg

My guest this week is Susan Lee, a comic book writer/artist, painter, novelist, and founder of Women on the Dark Side, a panel series that has been touring the SoCal convention circuit. It sends the message that not all female artists/creators are about unicorns and glittery vampires and silly pseudo-bondage. Some women create truly dark and challenging art and content, with just a touch of humor and whimsy.
